In the course of our normal business, we frequently perform network diagnostics and analysis across wide subnets. While conducting these scans, we occasionally discover unsecured business networks. When an unsecured network segment is discovered, it is our policy to perform a cursory review of the network for the sole purpose of locating the organization's contact information. Again, we do this for the sole purpose of notifying the system administrator or appropriate management personnel of the security issue.

If we have contacted you regarding a security flaw, it means that we were able to gain at least limited remote access to your organization's computer network.

Please be assured that we have absolutely no harmful or malicious intention whatsoever. We DO NOT download, edit, delete, copy, move, or modify your data in any way. We DO NOT upload any files, software, viruses, worms, data, etc. onto your system. We DO NOT access your system any more than is absolutely necessary to determine your contact information. We DO NOT disclose any information about your business or the network security issues that we discover to any third party, except as directed by law enforcement agencies or court order.

Keep in mind that criminals, competitors, and potentially even terrorist organizations could take advantage of the same security flaws that we discovered. Our detection of these security problems is not a guarantee that your systems have not already been compromised by other parties.

Unless you have specifically directed us to do so, we have not taken any steps to repair these security problems, because doing so would require modification to your existing systems. We simply want to inform you of this security issue so that you can take appropriate action to correct the problem.

Please contact us, or another reputable network security specialist, as soon as possible in order to secure your critical data. With your permission, we can perform a full, on-site analysis of your network security and implement any necessary modifications.
